Hi there, welcome to my portfolio. Let’s start with an introduction.
My name is Irfan, and I am a storyteller, strategist, researcher, editor, and marketeer. I consider myself a creative soul with an analytical mind. I like telling data-driven stories and using design interventions to simplify data and improve communications. As a person, I view the world through the prism of shared stories and abstract connections. This allows me to craft customized data-driven narratives for my clients and readers.
I have done my Bachelor’s in Financial Economics under the program name Quantitative Economics and Econometric Analysis from the University of Rochester on a full scholarship. A degree in the STEM field gives me a strong foundation in Data Analytics, which I leverage to plan digital marketing campaigns, content strategies and research initiatives. I have also worked in the media fraternity as a journalist, reporter, and editor for the last 8 years in varied capacities — working both part-time and full-time, and sometimes as a freelancer. I have experience working as a digital media specialist, with knowledge in graphic design, video editing, 3-d printing, virtual reality, animation, after effects, and typography. I have worked as a strategist for one of South Asia’s largest crowdfunding platforms, Ketto, helping the company scale its content across multiple platforms and increase its reach through both paid and organic marketing and content strategies. I have also done consulting for some of India’s biggest NGOs and companies, helping them devise content, PR and crowdfunding strategies. List of clients includes The Times Group of India (Times Professional Learning, Times Pro, TimesTSW), PlanetSpark, Upcide, Global Rights Foundation, Global Parle, Giving Circle, Milaap, etc.
I am the author of ‘Crowdfunding: The Story of People’, India’s first book on the social impact and potential of online crowdfunding. The book employs a data-driven storytelling approach to capture the impact and potential of crowdfunding in a world governed by inequality. It does so while maintaining a constant grip on both the micro and macro perspectives of collective giving, social collaboration, and financial inclusion. I also have another book in the pipeline which is scheduled to release in October 2022. The book titled, ‘Ode to Longing’ is a collection of poems, short stories, and paintings.
